01

Provenance

Southwestern Ethiopia is recognised as the wild home of Arabica coffee. Within that broad origin are many ecologies and local systems, from forest and semi-forest coffee to garden cultivation.

No single flavour can stand for Ethiopia. Variety, elevation, harvest, fermentation and drying create an unusually wide sensory vocabulary.

02

Why it matters

Wild coffee populations contain genetic resources that may help Arabica adapt to climate pressure and disease. Their conservation is inseparable from the livelihoods of forest communities.

Provenance note

This profile describes the wider origin and crop. It does not represent certification or a named supplier relationship.
